Great Grandma Wiebe's Killer Butter Tart Recipe

I guess I should start by saying "Sorry Grandma... the secret is out!"

This simple recipe has been in our family for decades and continues to be an ABSOLUTE MUST at Christmas. 

Honestly, they're amazing anytime... but have these rich, buttery beauties grace your table this holiday season and you'll be taking requests from family and friends ALL YEAR LONG.

Single batch makes approximately 12 tarts

Grandma's Butter Tarts - Ingredients

Mixture:

2 eggs

1 cup brown sugar

2 tbsp melted butter

2 tsp vanilla

1 tsp lemon

pinch of salt

* Raisins or Pecans

* Unsweetened tart shells (12) ( Have a go at making your own or store bought are just fine!)

The Process... 

  1. Beat all the ingredients together till the mixture is foamy and light.
  2. Place raisins in the bottom of the tart shells (or pecans if you prefer)
  3. Pour batter into tart shel until filled about 3/4 full

  

Bake at 350 for about 15 min until golden brown. Let cool and enjoy!

These tarts can be frozen when cooled and put away for that special day OR for guests dropping in to spread some holiday cheer!
