Nana's Warm, Easy to Make ol' Fashioned Apple Crisp.
I've been baking this simple recipe for at least 20 years now. It is hands down a family favourite. And why wouldn't it be? It's got that old' school, easy to make, good old fashioned down home goodness that my Nana was known for.
Try it out... I think you'll love it.
NANA’S APPLE CRISP:
*Fill a 8 x 11” baking pan with frozen or fresh apples
Then...
*Mix and then pour over apples:
¼ cup white sugar, ¼ cup water, 2 tsp lemon juice
*Sprinkle cinnamon over apples
*Topping:
1 cup soft butter or margarine
1 1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 ¾ cup quick oats
Fork until combined then spread over apples and bake at 350 degrees for 45 min – 1 hour until apples in the centre are soft
Homemade Caramel Sauce Topping:
Combine and heat on MEDIUM in a pot:
1 cup brown sugar
¼ cup butter
¼ cup cream
When mixture starts to bubble, allow to boil
ONLY 1 MINUTE.
Remove from heat and add 1 tsp vanilla
Pour over apple crisp
Pour over ice cream as well if you like! This is also so yummy to dip apples or bananas in. too.
Enjoy!
