Risk, Faith & Trusting That Today is Your Destination.
On this very day 5 years ago, our FIRST semi-load of product pulled into our parking lot.
It was brutally cold, and I will admit I was scared.
My emotions were in a tug-of-war between excitement and fear.
Scott & I had officially closed our book business and were left with over $100,000 of debt & no idea how to pay it off. Almost as devastating, was the sense of loss I felt after 14 years of investing my heart and soul into an industry that was going extinct.
Up to that point, all of our experiences bringing in discount goods just to “test the waters” had all ended in disappointment. It was then we knew we were faced with a choice. Do we go ahead and try again, or do we pack it all in and find jobs?
At the time we were homeschooling and one of the things we loved was working together as a family. So, despite the losses, disappointment and challenges, we stepped out again and risked it all.
Sarah was 17. It was pretty much just her and me in the beginning.
We opened every box, listed the info on Facebook, answered every question and responded to every comment.
Then slowly, with the help of a friend, I did my first “LIVE” video!
I didn’t have a clue!
I had never engaged in social media. I had ZERO experience in “marketing”… I was a complete newbie!
Reflecting back now in the midst of my day-to-day, I often feel very much the same as I did those days.
It’s amazing how often I can still feel like I just don’t have a clue. And that is what I wanted to encourage you about.
Isn’t it funny how there really never is a “destination” we arrive at in life? Things are always changing.
I always thought there was. Instead, it really is all just a journey. One that entails scaling new mountains and then keeping your balance as you descend into the valley.
If Scott & I had a motto it would have to be “do it scared”. We’ve realized that there is no such thing as being comfortable if we want to move forward in our lives.
Honestly, I am downright uncomfortable with always being stretched, learning new things, releasing things I need to give up and trusting others.
Yet, every day we simply choose to take another step forward.
Maybe you are looking at a mountain right now or it could be that you feel your feet slipping into a valley. Whatever stage or circumstance you face, I want to encourage you.
Don’t lose hope!
Trust God and keep putting one foot in front of the other knowing that where you are right now… THAT IS your destination.
And it will be the same tomorrow.
We've found the old cliche to be completely true.
Life IS a journey.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of ours.
